About me
I'm in my 19th year of serving the needs of Portage Public Schools - Not only as a key member of the technology department handing day-to-day operations of our systems, but also as a leader in the Southwest Michigan area of audio/visual/lighting design & engineering, and controls programming. I've consulted and worked on projects as small as one person start-ups, to consulting on large projects from zoos to major themed entertainment venues that have a rodent as a mascot. I've worked on nearly 50 productions, and thousands of events through my career - in varying roles from a technician, engineer, or a manager/producer. I've taken an approach in our classroom technology designs of "less is more", not overcomplicating classroom designs, but keeping the moving parts simple and easy for our technicians to troubleshoot. More recently though, I've taken AVL controls to the same level as we handle IT - design it to be resilient and be able to be monitored. Not only that, but we are starting to integrate our AV equipment with other systems to assist with life safety and emergency notification. As a husband and father of 4 girls (ages 16, 14, 11, 9), our family loves to travel, and my wife runs our region's AYSO soccer league.
